Advice please regarding broken window

Hi, hope this is the right place to post this question. I took my Nissan juke into the garage to inspect the car and provide a quote for a broken window mechanism. The rear window had stopped going up and down smoothly a few weeks before. As its a warranty job we had to wait a few days for it to be approved. During this time the window in question shattered. The garage are taking no responsibility for this. But I believe this is not a coincidence, and judging from the photo I’ve linked below, it looks like the break in the glass begins below the window frame. I would love some advice from people with more knowledge on this kind of thing. Do you think that fact they had inspected it lead to the break? It was parked overnight on our driveway….we live on a very quiet road with no crime or break ins ever occuring in the past 3 years I’ve lived here. It wasn’t frosty, but it was quite windy. I’ve linked to the image of the window below…hope it works.
