A couple days ago, I met in public event with my old friend who is deeply interested in math. He showed me Grigori Perelman’s documentary youtube video and we started talking about it. Since his limited english, we were talking in different language. I figured out quickly it was awkward bc the other 3 guys around table didnot understand our conversation. I switched to English, explained to those guys about our topic. Turned out of of those young guys is a college student 3rd yr, education department, studying Math. To our surprise , that college student never heard about Grigori Perelman and Poincare problem nor about Fermat last theorem. Is this normal situation for a 3rd yr college student in Math Education department ? That student soon will graduate and start teaching Math somewhere. But those 2 math theorem/conjecture are famous for many people.
