[Career] Are proper “data scientist” jobs very social? Or are you plugged in with headphones coding all week?

I want to make the switch to data science from biostatistics because a) salary and b) in my field you really need to use SAS if you want to advance, which I will not do (I just know R).

However, I’m a very outgoing/social person and I do like my current job because I get to interact and consult for everyone at the company (lab research scientists, product development, engineers, bioinformatics) and even go to conferences that don’t have anything to do with my job just for fun.

If I became a data scientist, would I likely be wearing headphones and coding in python all day without a whole lot of social interaction outside of other data scientists?
