[D] Books on stats history?

I have read “The Drunkard’s Walk” and “The Signal and the Noise” but I’d like something sort of in between those more pop-science books and E.T. Jaynes “Probability Theory: The Logic of Science,” in terms of technical depth. Ideally something about the history and development and personalities of statistics that doesn’t shy away from specifics or drama but also doesn’t go into proofs or equations.
