I was thinking today:
What is the least probable license plate to see in any state? To elaborate, I don’t mean the least probable as in year of release, special edition plates, etc., but of pure “Wow, you truly don’t see many of those license plates in this state.”
My thinking was to find the state with the lowest number of registered cars (probably Wyoming or Rhode Island) and then juxtapose that with distance to the next state. If we’re thinking all 50 states, then possibly seeing a Rhode Island license plate in Hawaii would be the least probable. What do you guys think?
I was also curious about the answer if we restrict the conditions to just continental United States. Obviously, it seems that Hawaii or Alaska will be one of states in the all-50-states example, so if we just use the mainland states, what would be the least probable license plate to see in any state then? Would the mainland answer be more probable than the one involving Hawaii or Alaska?
I’m sure there’s an actual statistical answer; one I was hoping to get insight about from you all.
