Understanding Proofs, but not being able to come up with them

Hey Guys,

Just looking for some advice. I recently started my Pure Math Major, and I really like the material and have an excellent understanding of it — especially of delta-epsilon proofs. I can read one of those proofs ‘like a novel’ and always get what’s going on, but what worries me is that despite all that I can never seem to come up with a proof myself. I am always relying on other’s hints or answers.

Any advice for my situation?

Thanks
